Recording Drums During The Apocalypse!?

Julian smashing his beloved drums!

Hello? Someone alive out there? I guess so...planet Earth still rotating over on my side.

Setting up the Mics
Well, we finally started recording!!! As you can see we started with recording the drums. But before that we had to drive through some strange traffic, turn around because some roads were blocked by the police in the city were our rehearsal place slumbers. After loading out all of our stuff we began setting up the drums, recording interface and microfones...ok you can erase drums, they have already been set up :P

All plugged in!
All set up!
It took me personally quite a while to get along with those d*** cables, swinging around, deplacing well thought out and well placed microfones, destroying the world....or not!...yet. Well somehow I could win over my retardedness and finally plug every mic into it's foreseen channel...so yeah I somewhat helped today! :D

Well take a look at that! All done and ready to record! While Jules was warming up, I was ordered to get us some coooool water and I got my favorite kind! You have to rrrrroll the 'R' like Till Lindemann does, or else it won't help refreshing you! And I got some snacks as well. ;)

Favorite kind of water!
So...soundcheck done already, can we finally start recording? Yes!! DO IT! 1-2-3-4....nothing? Yes you heard right! The song we recorded today starts quietly and slow, not directly into your face stuff...actually 70-80% on the upcoming album start like that...we're getting old...or just tired of 'in your face'-stuff? I don't know...but it tastes sooo good!

Ohhhh...those tunes!
Hours and countless times of explaining what is going to happen next and changing my mind we got our first song! But soon we found out that something was not quite right with it, and we deleted all of it and started all over again but it was definitely worth it! Now it sounds really good and serves the song well!! At least for now...let's see what a new day and fresh ears will bring.

We took a break after finishing the 1st song and met up with our pals from Darkest Horizon, Olli and Daniel (our former bass player) and shared our healthy and tasty food. After that we got back to our rehearsal room and started to record the second song, but had to realize after another hour that it would be senseless to continue while being exhausted. So we ended it right there for today and took our few things with us and drove home, were I started to mix the recorded song and put that video together for you guys! I never thought it would take my PC this long for such a short video but well...whatever. There it is! Have fun watching and hopefully you enjoy it and can somehow see where we are going with our new music. Currently it's 1:20 am and I'm still thinking about whether we should continue recording the second song we started today or we start another one...it's a tricky decision, but at least we're going to try it later today.

I hope you could get a small insight on how we work and how we sound :P

I'm going to sleep now, tomorrow Jules will pick me up again, hopefully not too soon ;)

BTW: The song in the beginning of our video is called "Mordromantik" and is on our debut album "Morbide Unterhaltungsmusik". You can listen to it here:
